Landi Simone is one of only nine beekeepers in the state of New Jersey certified as a Master Beekeeper by the Eastern Apiculture Society, and the only woman. Master Beekeepers undergo an extensive four-part examination to determine their knowledge of their craft as well as their ability to demystify that craft to the general public. One important purpose of the certification program is to provide qualified ambassadors for the beekeeping community. Landi, who has been keeping bees for more than a decade, takes enormous joy in sharing her love for honey bees with others. She has done so on many occasions.

This is the Hive the Beekeeper Built...
One of the most popular presentations is one which is educational and entertaining for participants between the ages of 5 and 99! It is modelled along the lines of the old nursery rhyme, "The House that Jack Built," but each new phrase describes a job honey bees perform in a hive. Members of the audience become the queen, her attendants, wax builders, larvae, pupae, nurse bees, guard bees, foragers, and more. As they pretend to be bees, they gain an understanding of the incredibly complex society that constitutes a live honey bee colony.

Booking a Presentation
Presentations take between 1 1/2 and 2 hours, depending on group size. The minimum number of participants is 15, and groups can be quite large as long as there is ample space for everyone to be up and dancing around. Cost is $200. Travel is included if the location is within 20 minutes of the Montville - Boonton, NJ area. Beyond this point, there will be additional charges for time and travel expenses. Please call or email us to reserve a date as early as possible, but at least a month in advance. Certain times of the year are very busy for beekeepers and, although we would like to accomodate everyone, it isn't always possible.
